What is a Proverb?
Brief - Memorable - Transferrable (applicable to different
situations)
All cultures have proverbs; they are not unique to
the bible:
- Ghana: A lion won't abandon the hunt for a deer to
chase a caterpillar
- American: A stitch in time saves nine
Bible proverbs are unique because they are proverbs
which represent God's truth
Most important things about proverbs is that they are
observations of the way things usually work, not promises
Assignment for 4/14:
Read through the proverbs and choose the ones that stand
out to you that you'd like to cover in more depth; try
